Cattle Yard Plans

Our cattle yard designs have significantly evolved and improved over the many years we have been engaged in manufacturing, adapting to meet the diverse needs of each individual situation. Circular cattle yard designs paired with thoughtfully constructed curved race sections have become very popular designs among our clients and work efficiently in practice.

M & M Stockyards is dedicated to creating a comprehensive cattle yard system that can be tailored to suit every stockman’s requirements.

Naming Conventions and Cattle Yard Sizes

Our cattle yard names are based on the working capacity - not the holding capacity.

To be consistent in our naming convention we have based our yard sizes on 1.3m2 per 500kg beast weight. To compare different yard systems, the holding capacity can be worked out by dividing the area of the yard by 1.3.

We also use other basic abbreviations in our naming conventions such as;

SR - Straight Race

CR - Curved Race

Weean - Weean Race

HSR - Horse Shoe Race

15 - 70 Head Cattle Yards

80 - 100 Head Cattle Yards

110 - 160 Head Cattle Yards

180 - 220 Head Cattle Yards

230 - 280 Head Cattle Yards

285 - 365 Head Cattle Yards

370 - 460 Head Cattle Yards

475 - 600 Head Cattle Yards

Safety Force Plans

30 - 175 Head Safety Force Yards

210 - 420 Head Safety Force Yards

465 - 700 Head Safety Force Yards

Sheep Yard Plans

M & M Stockyards have now expanded into sheep yard systems using portable modular sections including sheep panels, gates in frames and full modular drafting sections.

The beauty of this type of system is that nothing has to be set in concrete. The yards can be moved or modified if needed. Gates and panels can be swapped around and the yards can be easily extended at a later date.

M & M Stockyards can design a sheep yard system to suit every stockman.

Sheep Yard Sizes - Naming Conventions

Our sheep yard names are based on the working capacity - not the holding capacity. To be consistent in our naming convention we have based our yards sizes on 3 sheep per 1m2. This is only an approximate figure as the number will vary with shorn sheep as opposed to full wool sheep.

We use other basic abbreviations in our naming conventions such as:

SSR - Single Straight Race

DSR - Double Straight Race
